The United States has a vibranfashion industry ry and two major global fashion capitals: New York and Los Angeles. Hundreds of brands canned and they are sold all over the world. It originated from popular ideas in fashion in the USA and became popular all over the world: the color blue, t-shirts, skateboard fashion, hip culture are just a few.
New York City is home to more fashion designers and retailers than any other city in the United States. In fact, there are an estimated 900 fashions in New York City and the city hosts more than 75 major fashion trade shows and thousands of showrooms. Calvin Klein, DKNY, Kenneth Cole, Nine West, and Tommy Hilfiger are among those companies based in the city.
Founded in New York City in 1947 and part of New York University, the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) is world-renowned. FIT attracts hundreds of athletes every year. In fact, 12 percent of the student body is made up of international students from 73 different countries distributed across the continents: Africa, Asia, Australia, Northern Europe, and South America.
Multiple field trips around New York City are planned throughout the semester. In addition, students are given the opportunity to take short-term "hot topic" lessons and are often invited to special events and hear from guest speakers. IEL students immerse themselves in the vibrant student life at FIT by joining student clubs, using campus facilities, and attending events sponsored by FIT's Student Life department.
The three-week ESL/Fashion Business program is a combination of ESL classes and a selection of tracks in Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, Fashion Merchandising: Advertising, Design and Social Media as well as International Fashion Business Marketing. This program attracts students from all over the world, some who already have professional experience and some who don't.
The afternoon's variety of trails offers something for everyone, regardless of previous experience.
